I had no experience with dealing with these types of issues, and I am so thankful we decided to call Smith & Sons! Our insurance company originally denied our claim (the adjuster "decided" that the mold had accumulated slowly over time and therefore was not covered). We thought our hands were tied and there was nothing we could do. However, Smith & Sons personally called our insurance and talked with them... next thing we know, it's covered! They know how insurance companies operate and the loopholes they will use to try and avoid providing coverage, and I am so thankful they were able to help us out. I have already referred two other people to them, and Smith & Sons was able to get them covered as well.
Another thing I liked was how quickly they responded to our call and came out to the house. They were always very quick to reply to any inquiries I had, either via phone call, text or email, and I really appreciated that. I also really appreciated that they dealt with our insurance company for us, working out estimates, coverage amounts, etc. I didn't have to deal with that aspect at all. They also did not require any sort of payment until we received the check from insurance.
It took a few days to do the mold remediation, and then a few weeks for the repairs. It was a long time to be out of our kitchen, but I am not sure if the work could have been done more quickly or not. My only complaint is that I didn't always know which days they were coming by the house. The repairs are now finished and I am very satisfied with the quality of the work done. I would refer anyone to this company... they were true lifesavers! read less

With the house locked up tight the smell alone was more than anyone could bare but the sight of sagging walls and ceiling ruined furniture was devastating. After our long flight we were too tired to do anything..
Thankfully we called Smith & Sons (about 3 am) and they said they'd assemble a team and be there as soon as possible.. felt like maybe an hour or two they were in the house sucking out the water, then drying it out. Demo started quickly after that. We were given an estimated time of 4-6 weeks for everything after cabinets get ordered.
A few hiccups like things not being in stock or no longer available and then getting to choose something different but none of that is the fault of Smith & sons so it does take time but in our minds we're we're thinking closer to three months time of completion, nope 2 months almost to the day.
The Smith & Sons team acted fast, were very professional and great at responding to text and calls fast and efficiently!
I would recommend them to anyone that asks.

My tenants found Smith &... read moreI had the misfortune of having two emergency water disasters in my Santa Maria condo in a four month period (late 2011 - early 2012). My tenants found Smith & Sons and they were there both times for the emergency dry-out, handled the homeowners insurance claim (along with liability claim due to neighbors unit being damaged both times), and handled the repairs in a timely manner even while it was tenant occupied. Had some issues with the insurance company not matching their quote and they worked very closely with the agent to ensure that insurance paid for all the damages! They made managing these disasters as an out of town landlord VERY easy...Over the last six month, I have had with linoleum bubbling and a couple issues with the "lips" on stairs separating, upon making the call to them, they had someone at property within 24 hrs to repair at no Cosette did a quality job and they stand by their product! It was a pleasure working with everyone on their team!! I would recommend them for an emergency you have on the central coast!!! read less

It had 3 inches of water covering the floor; the hall way, and two rooms were also completely saturated with water. Not knowing who to call I looked in the Yellow Pages. The first ad I saw was ServePro.....after about ten rings on the phone, no one answered so I dialed Smith and Sons where the phone was immediately answered by a very polite lady who listened to my plight. I was contacted shortly thereafter by a technician from Smith and Sons. Within the hour two vehicles arrived at our home and immediately surveyed the damage and recommended a course of action. The two technicians, Jacob and Mark were incredibly competent and helpful. Without hesitation they began a well thought out approach to remedying our water damage......and it was Christmas eve! Smith and Sons is a business that truly cares for its customers and they will go the extra mile to make sure that you are completely satisfied.
