They are knowledgeable, clean, and respectful. This is my first time as a homeowner dealing with an insurance claim and they have been incredibly helpful. I had no experience with dealing with these types of issues, and I am so thankful we decided to call Smith & Sons! Our insurance company originally denied our claim (the adjuster "decided" that the mold had accumulated slowly over time and therefore was not covered). We thought our hands were tied and there was nothing we could do. However, Smith & Sons personally called our insurance and talked with them... next thing we know, it's covered! They know how insurance companies operate and the loopholes they will use to try and avoid providing coverage, and I am so thankful they were able to help us out. I have already referred two other people to them, and Smith & Sons was able to get them covered as well.
Another thing I liked was how quickly they responded to our call and came out to the house. They were always very quick to reply to any inquiries I had, either via phone call, text or email, and I really appreciated that. I also really appreciated that they dealt with our insurance company for us, working out estimates, coverage amounts, etc. I didn't have to deal with that aspect at all. They also did not require any sort of payment until we received the check from insurance.
It took a few days to do the mold remediation, and then a few weeks for the repairs. It was a long time to be out of our kitchen, but I am not sure if the work could have been done more quickly or not. My only complaint is that I didn't always know which days they were coming by the house. The repairs are now finished and I am very satisfied with the quality of the work done. My tenants found Smith & Sons and they were there both times for the emergency... read moreI had the misfortune of having two emergency water disasters in my Santa Maria condo in a four month period (late 2011 - early 2012). My tenants found Smith & Sons and they were there both times for the emergency dry-out, handled the homeowners insurance claim (along with liability claim due to neighbors unit being damaged both times), and handled the repairs in a timely manner even while it was tenant occupied. Had some issues with the insurance company not matching their quote and they worked very closely with the agent to ensure that insurance paid for all the damages! They made managing these disasters as an out of town landlord VERY easy...Over the last six month, I have had with linoleum bubbling and a couple issues with the "lips" on stairs separating, upon making the call to them, they had someone at property within 24 hrs to repair at no Cosette did a quality job and they stand by their product! It was a pleasure working with everyone on their team!! I would recommend them for an emergency you have on the central coast!!! read less - 10/03/2013
